Itinerary

Day 1:
Arrival in Nairobi and Transfer to Buffalo Springs

Your Lake Turkana Adventure begins as you arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. After clearing customs, you’ll meet your knowledgeable tour guide for a brief orientation. Then, embark on a scenic drive to Buffalo Springs National Reserve, located approximately 3.5 hours from Nairobi. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge or campsite and enjoy a delicious lunch with picturesque views of the reserve. In the afternoon, set out for an exhilarating game drive to witness the reserve’s diverse wildlife, including elephants, lions, and various bird species. As the sun sets, return to your accommodation for dinner and relax under the starlit sky.

Day 2:
Full Day in Buffalo Springs National Reserve

Start your day with an early breakfast before heading out for a morning game drive. This is a perfect time to spot wildlife as they become active in the cooler hours. After an exciting morning, return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, join a guided nature walk to learn about the local flora and fauna, deepening your appreciation for the environment. Day 3:
Transfer to Lake Turkana

After breakfast, check out of your lodge and set off for Lake Turkana, often referred to as the “Jade Sea.” This journey takes approximately 6 hours, with scenic stops along the way to enjoy the breathtaking landscapes. Upon arrival, check in to your accommodation with stunning views of the lake. Enjoy a relaxing lunch while soaking in the serene environment. In the evening, unwind by the lakeside and marvel at the spectacular sunset over the turquoise waters. Savor dinner at your lodge, preparing for the exciting activities ahead.

Day 4:
Exploring Lake Turkana

Begin your day with breakfast before embarking on a memorable boat trip on Lake Turkana. Explore the lake’s unique geography, observe local fishermen in action, and keep an eye out for various bird species. After your boat adventure, visit nearby communities to learn about the lifestyles and traditions of the El Molo and Turkana tribes. Enjoy a traditional lunch with a local family, immersing yourself in their culture. Day 5:
Transfer to Samburu National Reserve

On the fifth day, enjoy breakfast before checking out of your accommodation. Depart for Samburu National Reserve, a journey of about 4-5 hours through picturesque landscapes. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge or campsite and enjoy lunch with beautiful views of the reserve. In the afternoon, set out on a game drive to discover Samburu’s incredible wildlife. Look for the unique “Samburu Five” — reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and beisa oryx. After an exciting day, return to your accommodation for dinner and reflect on your experiences.

Day 6:
Full Day in Samburu National Reserve and Departure

Start your final day with breakfast before heading out for an early morning game drive in Samburu National Reserve. Witness the stunning landscapes and vibrant wildlife as you explore this unique ecosystem. After returning to your lodge for lunch, visit a nearby Samburu village to learn about the culture and traditions of the Samburu people. Engage with the locals and experience their way of life firsthand. Depending on your departure time, you can choose to return to Nairobi by road or take a domestic flight from Samburu. If traveling by road, enjoy the scenic journey back, stopping for refreshments along the way.
